Casio EXILIM EX-Z1000 Camera review | Storage and Energy
It does not come as a surprise to see the Casio Exilim EX Z1000 digital camera equipped with a memory card slot that supports the small Secure Digital card. Standard, the Casio EX Z1000 offers an internal memory of merely 8MB; which makes the presence of an additional Secure Digital memory card a bare necessity. In combination with the internal memory, the high resolution of 10 Megapixels, set to the lowest compression, allows you to store only a single image. After all, a 10 Megapixel Fine compression and JPEG format take up 4.2MB. Those who wish to capture more images during holidays should therefore consider investing immediately in an SD card of 512MB or even 1GB. The Casio Exilim EX Z1000 supports Secure Digital memory cards with a maximum storage capacity up to 2GB.

Casio EX-Z1000 - Secure Digital memory card
When purchasing your Secure Digital memory card, it is wise to inform about the speed with which the card is able to process the data. Generally, a standard speed is perfectly sufficient for continuous shooting. Those who wish to record video clips in high resolution, however, might bump into the occasional "hiccup" during recording. After all, a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and an image speed of 25 images per second, translate to over 10.2 megabits per second. Personally, I did not experience this hitch with the standard SanDisk SD card, but there is undoubtedly a circulation of cards that are unlikely to offer such a stable performance.

Casio Exilim EX Z1000 - Continuous shooting settings
The Casio EX Z1000 camera features a variety of settings for continuous shooting. The Normal Speed continuous shooting mode, for instance, ensures the camera registers continuous shooting with an interval of approximately 1.2 seconds. The second setting is the so-called High Speed continuous shooting mode. The user has the option to capture three images sequentially in the high resolution of 10 Megapixels. After this, the camera requires several seconds to empty the buffer. The Flash continuous setting allows you to shoot three flash images sequentially; a type of setting that is in fact not often seen. The Casio Exilim EX Z1000 is able to process the high resolution images both quickly and without hiccups.

Casio NP-40 3.7V 1300mAh Lithium Ion battery
The Casio EX Z1000 uses a Casio NP-40 3.7V 1300mAh Lithium Ion battery. The so-called Super Life battery certainly has a reputation to keep up. In our opinion, Casio are true to their word; the Casio EX Z1000 benefits significantly from the power economical technique, and with over 300 images, it easily withstands comparisons to the competition. The Exilim processor contains important components stacked into a small space. This technique has already been applied for several years, and has undergone many new developments, which now prove particularly rewarding. The amount of images was achieved with use of the LCD monitor. Furthermore, half of the images were taken whilst making use of the flash function. May the advantages be clear; there is no particular need for a second battery. All in all, an excellent performance!
