Fujifilm FinePix S9000 Camera review | Conclusion
Fujifilm FinePix S9000 - Design
The design of the Fujifilm FinePix S9000 is well thought-out. The buttons are in the exact right spot and carry a clear symbol. Most buttons feature a single function, which makes it well arranged and organized. It's fairly pleasant having to turn or press the button firmly. You don't just adjust a button on the Fujifilm S9000. Apart from one button; the switch for focusing, that adjust easily. The position of the information button is a bit weird; you'd expect it to sit closer to the monitor. On the other hand, the back is already crowded; it would confuse things even more. In general the ergonomic of the FinePix S9000 is fine and I don't have any comments about it.

Fuji S9000 - No image stabilisation
Personally I find zooming and manually focusing by means of a ring on the lens a huge advantage. It works quicker and more precise than a zoom button on the camera. Thanks to the excellent handgrip and the good position of the lens, you really have a firm and steady grip on the Fujifilm S9000. This is fairly important when shooting with long focal lengths, because the FinePix S9000 is not equipped with image stabilisation unlike many of its competitors who do have it. Working in RAW you benefit from the low noise ratio at high sensitivities. Therefore you don't need to use flash or tripod that soon. More brightness of the lens when set to tele mode could make a positive difference. I must comment on the JPEG compression; in my opinion it is too obvious and in combination with the noise reduction and the lack of compression settings at a lower resolution than 9 Megapixels, it diminishes the performance at high ISO values.

Fuji FinePix S9000 - RAW converter
Moreover the menu of the Fujifilm FinePix S9000 could also do with some improvement. An appreciated one would be placing the RAW option and the white balance settings on the F-button or a separate quick button. These are issues that are of main importance on a digital camera in this range, in my opinion. And while Fujifilm is at it, it might as well deliver a more comprehensive RAW converter; that would be greatly appreciated. It will certainly enhance the joy of working in RAW because I'd expect a large number of users in the target group getting into RAW shooting.

Fujifilm FinePix S9000 - Versatile digital camera
The Fuji FinePix S9000 still is a beautiful versatile digital camera and one that works outstandingly. The auto focus does a great and precise job and the exposure is excellent. The lens does have some distortion in wide angle alright, showing some purple fringing, but this is not very surprising and in general the lens is just fine. Color rendition, contrast and sharpness are superb. The ease of creating a white balance is incredible, and it's one good example for the competitors to look into.

Fujifilm S9000 - Strong competitor for the digital reflex camera
All in all the Fuji S9000 is a truly interesting camera containing some impressive specifications. It's not a perfect camera, nobody is perfect, but it's a strong competitor for the digital reflex camera. This hybrid model always turns out well for Fujifilm. The specifications of the Fujifilm S9000 make it a real digital killer. If we look at the possibility of working in RAW and the low noise ratio, the image quality and the high quality lens, the camera definitely deserves to be called a digital killer. If Fujifilm manages to adjust the software concerning the compression and if they were to implement some sort of image stabilisation, Fujifilm will be holding a real winner in its hands. Nine Megapixels, a large optical zoom range, a real wide angle and functional high ISO sensitivities make the Fujifilm S9000 a fabulous attractive camera. Certainly a recommender!
