|Fujifilm FinePix F10 - Focus
The camera offers a standard focus range of 60cm for normal images and 7.5cm in macro mode. Focussing is great and at a standard speed. The camera is equipped with an AF assist illuminator, which in practice proved to be a useful feature. Focussing takes a short while under difficult light circumstances but when using the AF assist illuminator most attempts of focussing correctly will succeed with the help of the assist illuminator, very useful! The brightness and the resolution are excellent. Beside that the colour rendition is true-to-life and the automatic white balance succeeds in maintaining a balanced exposure. In areas with an abundance of artificial light, the available white balance setting will neutralise the colours. To be honest, I don't think that the average user from this target group will easily use the white balance settings. But the possibility is available in any case, with which a solution can be found for obtaining a correct image at diverse light sources.
Fujifilm F10 camera - Video function
A strong trump of Fujifilm is the video function. So of course the Fujifilm F10 features a video function. A fine quality of movies is captured with a resolution of 640x480 or 320x240 pixels, standard recorded with a speed of 30 frames per second. Depending on the storage capacity of the used xD Picture card, it is possible to capture many minutes of moving images. The images are stored with sound, playing the movies will thus be accompanied with sound that comes from the microphone on the bottom of the camera. And for those who wonder: it doesn't make any difference if the camera is being hold up or standing flat on the table; the sound comes out just as clearly.
Fujifilm FinePix F10 - Macro record function
Coming back to the macro function of the camera. As mentioned before the Fujifilm FinePix F10 features a macro record function, with the possibility to capture a subject up to a distance of 7.5cm. This functionality in itself works great. A slight shading of the brightness in the corners of the image I detected, but other than that strong details and fine colour rendition are maintained. The only obstacle I encounter is taking macro images with insufficient light of the surroundings. The camera reacts fully automatically here, which is in fact its task, but the internal flash is fired. This can be a disadvantage for the end result. An overexposure occurs rapidly and on the other hand the optical zoom lens standing in between the flash and the subject sometimes prevents the flash from reaching it.
|This causes undesired shaded areas on the images. It ought not to be possible for the flash to fire automatically when the camera is set to macro mode. The specifications of the internal flash for example also require a minimum distance of 30cm, at telephoto as well as at wide angle for an effective range.
Fujifilm FinePix F10 - Action images
If you want to use the camera for action images you've come to the right place with Fujifilm. The camera is capable of storing three high resolution (6 Megapixels) images with an ultra fast speed of 2.2 frames per second, very impressive! It is also possible to store the last three images out of a burst of a maximum of 40 high resolution images, also at the same fast speed of 2.2 frames per second. The other speed trump of the Fujifilm FinePix F10 is the possibility to store a maximum of 40 images sequentially; speed will decrease to approximately 1 frame per second. Keep in mind the storage capacity of your memory card when using this latter functionality!
Fujifilm FinePix F10 - SP mode
Turning the camera to the SP mode, some five scenes appear. For standard images the auto mode functions fine. However, there are situations in which it is better to not use an average metering for the exposure but a different metering based on certain features. For example when taking images without having to use a flash, in order to put more emphasis on the natural light. To realise this, the F10 has a special built-in N-scene. Besides that the camera features a portrait mode with soft skin tones, landscape with sharp vivid images, sports with fast shutter speed priority and night scene, with emphasis on slow shutter speeds. The differences are visible, here and there Auto mode would achieve the same result but if you pursue the most ideal setting for a specific subject, you can use the SP function.
Fujifilm F10 digitale camera - Simple yet high quality
The Fujifilm FinePix is a digital camera with the emphasis on fully automatic photographing. Besides that the camera contains features like high speed mode and the excellent Super CCD HR technology in combination with the Real Photo Technology, which make this model interesting for everybody who wants to shoot digitally in a simple yet high quality way. The settings are easily accessible and there are only useful functionalities on board.
