|Sony Cybershot DSC-W1 digital camera review : The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W1 is available on the Dutch market since a few months now. During the last PMA show in Las Vegas, reviewed by LetsGoDigital, this new model was introduced, among others. The Cyber-Shot DSC-W1 should also appeal to the more traditional photographer because of the presence of a high quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens and its beautifully finished compact aluminum housing. Beside all this the model is also equipped with a new, Real Imaging Processor, developed by Sony for a rapid image processing procedure.
Sony Cybershot DSC-W1 - Features
This new model is one of the many new models Sony introduces annually on the market. Striking is the presence of the large LCD monitor. The well-known P-series digital cameras, still popular amongst the consumer, are all equipped with a much smaller size monitor. It is good to see them change into this larger type of monitors. Experiencing the captured image is in fact the golden moment of the digital camera. Compare this to opening the bag with inside it, your holiday pictures. Re-living these special moments of course is very attractive on a large 2.5 inch size LCD monitor.
Sony Cybershot DSC-W1 - Real Imaging Processor
The Real Imaging Processor is the heart of the camera, using the Stamina technique to the utmost. The Sony Cybershot DSC-W1 uses two NiMH batteries that deliver over 300 images, according to the official specifications. Beside energy saving features, speed also plays a role. The quick operation of the camera, the rapid start-up time and the fast shutter responding time make that, from a theoretical point of view, you never have to miss that one special moment you want to capture.
Sony Cybershot DSC-W1 - Movie function
Beside improving the items described above, the new Real Image processor also takes care of the moving imaging. The so-called MPEG Movie VX Fine function features high resolution images (640x480 pixels) with an image speed of 30 frames per second. These video clips are suitable to be played on a large sized screen (television).
Sony Cybershot DSC-W1 - Memory
A standard Memory Stick or a Memory Stick PRO version is used as a storage medium. The latter one is available with a high storage capacity (2GB) and in a rapid Ultra II format from SanDisk. In short, the Sony DSC-W1 is an attractive digital camera to try out in practice. The next review is a description of the possibilities of and the experiences with the Cyber-Shot DSC-W1 camera.
