Panasonic Lumix DMC G2 | Digital Camera Review | Storage and Energy
Panasonic’s based on SD, SDHC and now also SDXC memory cards. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2 camera supports the standard SD and SDHC cards, which implies that a maximum storage capacity of 32GB is possible. That is quite a large capacity and for the majority of consumers that will be more than enough. Still, in the near future there will be demand for larger capacities. In order to fulfill this request, the SDXC (Secure Digital Extra Capacity) was developed. A card starts with 48GB, and in the coming years it will grow to an impressive 2TB in storage!

Panasonic Lumix G2 - Take a series of shots
The speed, with which the Panasonic Lumix G2 is able to take a series of shots, is good on average. When continuous Hi is chosen, and Live View is switched off, a speed of about 3.3 frames per second can be achieved, regardless whether they are in JPEG or RAW. The combination of JPEG+ RAW decreases the speed to 2.6 frames per second. The Panasonic DMC-G2’s buffer is not very big, but still capable of processing about 9 JPEG images, or approximately 5 RAW images. All in all, these are not values with which true action photography can be performed, but more than enough to capture children playing or other active moments.

 Panasonic
Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2 memory card
Panasonic advises a minimum of a Class 4 memory card for the recording of AVCHD video and Class 6 for motion JPEG video. With an average file size of about 23MB for a combination of RAW+JPEG, 15MB for RAW and about 7MB for JPEG, 4GB seems to us to be the minimum amount. Memory card prices are not high and that is why we advise you to buy a Class 6 8GB SDHC memory card right away.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2 has been equipped with a fast USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface. It transfers pictures at a high speed. The speed of the Panasonic G2 is stable and fast. If you want to make things simple for yourself, and don't want the hassle of working with a cable all the time, you might want to purchase a fast USB 2.0 High Speed card reader, which does not require connecting the camera. It's fast, easy and saves battery capacity.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2 Li-Ion battery
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2 comes with a battery charger and a Li-Ion battery. The Panasonic DMW-BLB13E) needs about 155 minutes to charge in order to deliver a maximum energy capacity. The camera’s display shows the battery status with a battery symbol. Official CIPA (standardized) measurements show that a full battery is good for about 360 shots, when shooting with the DMC-G2 and a 14-42mm lens. In combination with a 45-200mm lens, this is about 340 shots. When the LCD display is switched off and the electronic viewfinder is used, the maximum amount of images becomes 390 and 370 shots, respectively. In practice, the amount of shots will be a bit less, when circumstances are not optimal, in comparison with the standardized conditions in which the CIPA make their measurements. This was enough capacity for our practice test. A second battery is not really necessary, in our opinion.
