Sony DSC-HX5 memory card support
The times that a manufacturer such as Sony only has its ‘own’ format card exclusively for its own assortment of cameras seem to be over for good. And that’s a good thing, too, because it was not really becoming any clearer and it limited the switch to a next generation digital camera. The SD format has been the horse to bet on for the past few years. Secure Digital (SD) is available up to 2GB, while Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) is good for 32GB. In the mean time, the newest generation cards have appeared on the market, SDXC, which will have a minimum capacity of 48GB and a maximum capacity of 2TB in the coming years. There are only a few cameras that support SDXC right now, and the Sony HX5 is not an exception.

Sony NP-BG1 Li-Ion 910mAh battery
A NP-BG1 Li-Ion 910mAh battery is used for the energy supply of the Sony Cybershot HX5. Take a long charging time into consideration, especially the first time, as it takes about 330 minutes. A standard recharge takes about 270 minutes. With a fully charged battery you can shoot about 310 images, at least according to the CIPA’s measuring methods. In practice, we were able to shoot a bit less, about 275 images, but that is still pretty good. If you do not have the opportunity to recharge the battery, for example on vacation or at a party, you are advised to bring an extra battery.
