Panasonic Lumix DMC GF1 | Digital Camera Review | Storage and Energy
As one of the initiators of the SD platform, Panasonic has obviously opted for an SDHC card slot. Hence, the Panasonic Lumix GF1 supports standard SD cards with a maximum storage capacity of 2GB and SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) with a maximum storage capacity of 32GB. SD is the standard storage medium that you will find in almost any camera. Even professional DSLR cameras are increasingly more often supporting this small card in addition to the larger CompactFlash card.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 memory
The Panasonic DMC-GF1 stores pictures in RAW, JPEG, or a combination of both. For storing JPEG in the highest quality, about 7 MB is needed, whereas for RAW about 15MB, and the combination RAW/JPEG is about 22MB large. So depending on what you choose, if JPEG is satisfactory and if the pictures will not be edited afterwards, a 2GB card will suffice. However, if you prefer shooting in RAW, you will need at least 4GB SDHC to work with. Prices of memory cards are very reasonable nowadays, so investing in a high capacity and fast SDHC card is certainly recommended.

Considering 4GB of storage capacity:

DMC-GF1 review

Panasonic Lumix GF1 uses DMW-BLB13E Li-Ion battery
For the energy, a Panasonic DMW-BLB13E Li-Ion battery pack is used. Charging the battery takes approximately 155 minutes. The battery status of the remaining energy is displayed on the LCD screen, or in the optional electronic viewfinder. The number of pictures that can be made differs strongly, which is caused by the way the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 is used and even what type of lens is mounted. Assuming a Panasonic f/1.7 20mm lens is mounted and the LCD screen is turned on, a fully charged battery will provide approximately 380 pictures. However, if you use the optional viewfinder, you will be able to capture approximately 423 pictures. The measurements were performed according to CIPA standards and may differ in practice, while the use of a camera in practice is not similar to the lab environments in which the tests are carried out.
