|Canon IXUS 110 IS digital camera
Canon's IXUS cameras are famous all over the world. They belong to the best selling series worldwide and millions have been sold so far. Their success still continues. However, it must be a job and a half for Canon's design department to come up with new ideas to continuously renew the Canon IXUS camera. You'd almost expect Canon to hesitate when launching a new Canon camera under the IXUS name, in order to keep the model somewhat more exclusive.
Canon Digital IXUS 110 IS camera design
However: not Canon. The Canon Digital IXUS 110 IS camera is not a really striking camera if we look purely at its content. The design, however, is beautiful, at least for those who like trendy designs and love a flat, compactly designed camera. When it comes to design, it really is an eye-catcher with its compact dimensions, so no excuse is good enough if you leave this digital product to waste away in the kitchen drawer.
Canon IXUS 110 IS image quality
The image quality of the Canon IXUS 110 IS is convincing. However; its performance is unfortunately not flawless. We do regret the fact that the IXUS 110 IS too has been burdened with 12 Megapixels. This is simply how it is, although we do hope that the megapixel race ends here and that priority will return to pixel quality. In fact, the quality of the ISO values is not that great from ISO 400 onwards. Noise is visible all too soon, which means you really have to make sure there is sufficient environmental light to be able to use the optimal low ISO values. The lens has a nice range from wide angle to portrait mode. Unfortunately, however, this is exactly where chromatic aberration pops up and we notice ugly purple fringes around the subject in difficult contrast-rich situations. Why there is no effective correction possibility inside the camera to correct chromatic aberration, remains a mystery.
Canon 110 IS perfect for the trendy photographer
If you are looking for a handy and, especially, a trendy design camera, you will soon spot the Canon IXUS 110 IS. The model stands out from the masses, which gives Canon a small lead over the competition. The quality is fine to excellent and will probably be appealing as a snapshot camera, preferably in good light circumstances. If you want to shoot in a more serious way, you'd better go for the PowerShot G10 or perhaps an (EOS) DSLR camera. The Canon IXUS 110 IS may not be striking, but still features various handy innovative functions to make photography as pleasant as can be. An excellent choice for the trendy or design-sensitive photographer who highly appreciates priority and ease.
