Canon PowerShot SX200 IS | Digital Camera Review | Storage and Energy
The Canon PowerShot SX200IS camera features a card slot supporting SD format memory cards. In practice, an SD card up to and including 2GB can be used for storage, as well as an SDHC card with a maximum storage capacity of 32GB. With this much storage at hand, you don't ever have to worry about storage capacity. This is ideal for long tracking trips and during holidays or daily moments.

SDHC memory cards
Although the Canon SX200IS is an advanced digital camera; the pictures are stored in JPEG format. RAW diehards will have to go for the PowerShot G10 or the EOS DSLR. Thanks to the JPEG storage, files will not exceed the 3MB per picture. This is a very acceptable size which is easy to handle. You don't really need high capacity memory cards. A 2GB SD card will do the job easily, but personally I tend to go for a 4GB or 8GB SDHC card. Since SD / SDHC cards are not only used in digital photo cameras but also in camcorders, it is quite logical to use a larger storage capacity. Unless you use the card solely for the Canon PowerShot SX200 IS.

Considering 8GB of storage capacity:

USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface
The Canon PowerShot SX200 IS camera has been equipped with a fast USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface. It transfers pictures at a high speed. The speed of the Canon SX200IS camera is stable and fast. If you want to make things simple for yourself, and don't want the hassle of working with a cable all the time, you might want to purchase a fast USB 2.0 High Speed card reader, which does not require connecting the camera. It's fast, easy and saves battery capacity.

Canon NB-5L Li-Ion battery
The Canon PowerShot SX200 IS comes with a Canon NB-5L Li-ion battery. This battery has been used for a while now, and for more than one Canon camera. The battery capacity is 3.7V 1120mAh and has to be recharged through a standard included CB-2L battery charger for approximately 2 hours. According to CIPA measurements, a fully loaded battery will let us take around 280 pictures. In practice, this was considerably less with an average of 225 pictures. This amount depends on the conditions in which shooting takes place, as well as the way of shooting. Are the flash and LCD monitor frequently used or not at all? These are details that all influence the amount of pictures that can be taken. If you cannot recharge the battery on time, you might want to purchase an extra one.
