Fujifilm FinePix S2000hd Camera review | Conclusion
Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD Megazoom digital camera
Fujifilm is still a popular brand as far as camera manufacturer are concerned. However, Fujifilm continues to limit its focus to the compact camera market in the last few years. This is likely in part due to the lack of appropriate housings for digital SLR cameras, as well as to being perhaps restricted by a capricious market and developments out of reach of their own strategy. Fact remains that Megazoom cameras should be considered as Fujifilm's answer to the popular DSLR for the amateur photographer.

Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD zoom range
Although the Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD is not the top model of the current assortment, you may still have some high expectations when going through the specifications. First of all, the large optical zoom range with dual image stabilization. On paper this is a powerful combination and thanks to the wide-angle and broad telephoto it is suitable for all-round photography. Add to this the fast action photography of 13.5 fps in 3 Megapixel resolution and you hold a truly astonishing camera. In practice the aforementioned features work superbly although Fujifilm falls short on a few critical points.

Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD image quality
Take, for example, the high resolution and the wide ISO sensitivity possibilities; they should make the owner of a Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD quite happy. However; in practice and according to measurements in the DIWA test lab, it turns out that the quality remains far behind that of its competitors. And the entire level of signal/noise ratio does not achieve the level you'd expect from a camera in 2009. Significant noise, even at ISO 200, spoils all the fun. Besides that, the 15x Fujinon zoom lens suffers a lot from chromatic aberration, and significant blur at the edges of the lens in telephoto. These results considerably reduce the overall quality.

Action photography with the Fujifilm S2000HD
If you can get over this, it is a pleasant Megazoom camera. The Fujifilm S2000HD does not require high photography skills and is user-friendly when it comes to operation. The camera offers many convenient and innovative image solutions, offering creative photography. The speedy action mode allows users to freeze fast movements and to print these out afterwards. The resolution of 3 Megapixels is enough for a postcard-sized print. Face detection is a nice aid for making portraits, but to be honest, you can easily do without it.

Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD review conclusion
The Megazoom concept has been around for quite a few years now. That said; the only subsequent changes have been an increase in resolution and an improved zoom range. I must admit that the quality of the picture has improved and the application of an image stabilizer significantly contributed to this. Yet, occasionally, the application of several innovations is not always a guarantee of improved quality. This is the case for the Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD. In itself, it is an interesting camera, even more so if we take into consideration the enhanced HD functionality, yet, from a photography perspective, it is clear that the camera cannot keep up with the competition. And that is the answer to the question of whether the Fujifilm S2000HD is able to differentiate itself from its competitors and above them. As far as we're concerned, the bottom line is that this Fujifilm Megazoom camera is just an average camera.
