The Canon SX10 IS Megazoom is a friendly camera when using it. The large command dial on top of the camera offers direct access to the main programs, among which the green AUTO button, well-known by now. The graphical display of aperture and shutter speed in A/S mode is beautiful. The dial, integrated in the multi-functional control button makes it easy to simply and clearly adjust shutter speeds or apertures. Also beautiful is the reproduction of the various scenes that appear in SCN mode. They are displayed partly transparent in the upper right corner of the monitor and you can scroll along all the available scenes.

If you have worked with a Canon compact camera before, you will recognize the FUNC buttons. This shortcut offers direct access to vital settings such as ISO, white balance, image quality, light metering etc. According to the main program, the aforementioned settings will appear on the monitor in a vertical row. The multi-control button allows for quick selection and setting. In addition it is also possible to reproduce these settings in the electronic viewfinder. The DISP button on the back allows for quick switching between the two screens.

The Canon PowerShot SX10 IS is a pleasant camera to work with. The camera has a fast response and the settings can be changed quickly and clearly. The renewed layout of the buttons, or better: their new position, was a good choice. All main buttons are now directly accessible by the thumb which enables navigating without having to reposition the camera in your hand. The seasoned user will hardly have to use the manual, if even at all. Excellent!
