Panasonic Lumix DMC FX150 | Digital Camera Review | Storage and Energy
A Panasonic LUMIX camera without support for SD or SDHC cards is unthinkable, that is why it does not surprise us to find a card slot on the Panasonic FX150 supporting both cards. This support will guarantee sufficient storage capacity for every user. Although Secure Digital stops at 2GB, the SDHC surpasses this capacity greatly with a maximum of 32GB. And it seems that in 2009 these boundaries will again expand. Whereas this was something extremely hard to imagine five years ago, today, you wouldn’t think twice about it.

Photographing in RAW and JPEG
Due to the high resolution of the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FX150, the file sizes increase automatically. In highest resolution and lowest compression, which is the highest quality, a file will quickly grow to approximately 17MB. That is the case for the RAW format. If you shoot in RAW+JPEG, the size will be around 19MB and shooting in the highest JPEG quality, the file becomes approximately 4.5MB. The RAW file sizes are not half bad, therefore we advise to use a card with a minimum of 2GB of capacity and preferably 4GB.

Considering 2GB of storage capacity:

USB 2.0 Hi Speed interface
The side of the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FX150 carries a USB 2.0 Hi Speed interface, which lets you quickly transfer a full memory card of 2GB to the desktop or notebook. Personally, I detest having to fiddle with cables and I prefer the optional card reader. Then it is just a matter of removing the card from the camera and transferring your files through the card reader. The advantage is the fact you can use the camera whilst transferring and it saves battery capacity. What's more convenient is that you don't have to go looking for that one cable you need…

Panasonic CGA-S005E Lithium Ion battery
The Panasonic LUMIX FX150 includes a Li-Ion battery. The CGA-S005E battery has to be charged through an external charger which takes just over two hours. The capacity of the Lithium Ion battery is 3.7V 1150mAh and will deliver some 330 pictures according to CIPA measurements. This is quite a positive number, since the circumstances you shoot in and the actions you undertake will never be as ideal as during the CIPA standard measurement. Therefore, do count on less pictures. If you don't have the possibility to recharge the battery, for example whilst on vacation, you'd be smart to pack a second battery in your luggage.
