Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ5 | Digital Camera Review | Introduction
Panasonic Lumix TZ5 digital camera review : One year after the introduction of the TZ3, and right before the PMA 2008 kicked off, Panasonic revealed the successor to the TZ3: the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5. Being the fourth generation Traveler Zoom (TZ), it is a clear sign that the concept has been received well. Panasonic don't complain; they work steadily on a carefully constructed series of compact cameras to keep their market share and to enhance it.

Panasonic TZ5 compact digital camera
Compact cameras such as the Panasonic Lumix TZ5 are very much appreciated, and that is for a reason. A camera of this format, equipped with a 10x optical zoom is liked by the majority of the consumers. Of course it is very convenient to have a camera with this zoom range at hand. Life is all about ease! Besides the 10x zoom, the Panasonic TZ5 features optical image stabilisation which certainly improves the quality. And have I mentioned the 28mm wide angle yet?

Panasonic DMC-TZ5 with wide angle zoom lens
It keeps surprising me that an Electronics giant such as Panasonic, acknowledged the importance of wide angle in an early stadium, whilst photo giants such as Canon and Nikon seem to still be unaware of this fact. This is a strange phenomenon. In any case; the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 user is able to enjoy his wide angle zoom lens. The image stabilisation is a must and has really proven itself in the previous models.

Record HD videos with the Lumix TZ5
The main differences between the Panasonic TZ5 and its predecessor are few. The most important ones are; the possibility to capture 720P HD video and play it, an increase of the image resolution from 7 to 9 Megapixels, and an improved 3 inch LCD monitor with intelligent functionality and a resolution of 460,000 dots. In addition a 4th generation image processor; the Venus Engine IV is used.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 review
All in all, the Panasonic Lumix TZ5 provides us with many interesting new functions and enhanced features to test in practice. Despite the large interest in digital SLR cameras; it are the compact cameras that decide the sales numbers. And for a reason; a camera such as the Lumix TZ5 appeals tremendously to the consumer with its large optical range, compact size and light weight. An ideal camera to always carry with you. We have had the camera in the office for a while and our findings can be read in the following Panasonic Lumix TZ5 camera review.

Panasonic Lumix

"The 9.1-megapixel Panasonic TZ5 features a 28mm wide-angle 10x optical zoom Leica DC lens in a compact body and integrates the capability of recording 720p HD motion pictures together with its direct output function allowing users to watch both still and motion pictures in HD quality. The 28mm wide-angle lens makes it easy to fit the whole group into a photo indoors or to capture dynamic wide-perspective shots of a sweeping landscape or large architectural structure. The Panasonic TZ5 test shots are made in and around The Dom in Utrecht, the Netherlands with a full production camera model and should be judged accordingly."
