|Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ8 review : In the beginning of 2007, Panasonic invited the world press to come and admire their new range of digital cameras in Paris. The new series of Lumix cameras includes the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8. This new model succeeds the popular Lumix FZ7 and is Panasonic's newest Mega zoom digital camera. From the outside, the Panasonic Lumix FZ8 is pretty similar to its predecessor. The real changes have taken place inside the camera. The most striking difference is the upgrade from 6 to 7 Megapixels and the option for recording favorite moments in both JPEG and RAW format.
Panasonic Lumix FZ8 - MEGA O.I.S. stabilization system
Panasonic is developing strongly as a camera brand. The latest cameras to be introduced are convincing qua design and functionality and seem to respond to consumer wishes. The integration of Panasonic's MEGA O.I.S. stabilisation system across the entire range of compact cameras is a smart move and shows that Panasonic is making progress. The same goes for the Panasonic FZ8 camera, equipped with an optical zoom lens with a zoom range of 12x optical zoom, equivalent to 36 - 432mm in a 35 mm camera. That Panasonic has also embraced Leica and are fitting their products with lenses from this old, respected brand will only increased its status on the camera market.
Panasonic DMC-FZ8 Megazoom - Camera features
The Panasonic Lumix FZ8 is a compactly made Megazoom camera with enough setting options to delight even experienced creative photographers. Compared to its predecessor, the FZ7, the main improvements and innovations in the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 have been made to the interior. There is the increase in resolution, a new Venus III processor, the same format 2.5-inch screen but with a higher resolution, a larger electronic viewfinder with a higher resolution, RAW and JPEG support, SDHC flash memory card support, some extra pre-programmed modes including an ISO 3200 option and an internal memory of 27MB.
Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ8 - Optical zoom lens
On paper, these specifications suggest that Panasonic has come up with an interesting camera for enthusiastic photographers. The previous model from Panasonic scored well on all points, but the high ISO values in particular could have been improved. We are curious to find out whether or not Panasonic has done this. The Panasonic Lumix FZ8 Megazoom camera is a versatile camera for both beginners and old hands. The optical zoom lens covers a large area where consumers can enjoy experimenting and its combination with optical image stabilisation is a recipe for carefree photography.
