Fujifilm FinePix Z2 Camera review | Adjustments
The Fujifilm FinePix Z2 digital camera has a complete A (automatic) setting: with the AF mode you can photograph with a range from 60cm to infinity. All A functions are clearly represented on the screen when you are taking a photo and the camera brings users quickly and neatly from a to b. Users are also provided with any necessary extra information, such as the number of available pictures, battery strength and frame for the AF/AE exposure setting.

Fujifilm FinePix Z2 - Picture assistant
Photographers can also use the picture assistant: a handy aid that gives suggestions for compositions by means of a raster on the LCD screen. There is also a setting to show the help window: the last three pictures are shown in the left of the LCD screen. It is all nice and simple and users will have more than enough options with the A setting. If, however, you want more, there are lots of other good options. With the photo function selection you can choose a manual setting in addition to the A setting; exposure compensation, white balance and auto focus can then be manually set by the user.

Fujifilm FinePix Z2 - Close-up macro setting
Users also have a macro (close-up) setting that will be more than satisfactory for the average user. The results are really rich in detail. Naturally, the flash setting can be simply changed from automatic flash to the red-eye setting, to use the fill in flash and set the flash synchronisation for long(er) exposure times. Furthermore, the Fujifilm FinePix Z2 digital compact camera has a self timer and clarity monitor (to brighten the LCD screen in poor light), and this is a real find in dusky light conditions. In dim light condition the Fujifilm FinePix Z2 camera can sometimes take a bit longer to focus, but its performance is practically flawless.

Fujifilm Z2 - Picture quality & Color setting
Then there are the functions under the blue F (for Fujifilm) button to the above right of the menu select button. With this button, you can change the picture quality, set the ISO equivalent sensitivity and change the FinePix Color setting: you can choose Chrome; slide setting and BW, the black and white setting. I especially liked the Chrome setting as it gives an attractive, colour saturated picture. Of course, there are also the diverse menu functions at your fingertips, such as function menu Photograph, whereby all sorts of changes can be made to the exposure mode, exposure compensation and white balance, and for example, you can also choose for quick photography, sequence shooting and the required focus function.

Fujifilm Z2 - Colour reproduction
The Fujifilm Z2's colour reproduction is particularly attractive with great contrast. The rather warm tone ensures a beautiful print and will delight users of the Fujifilm Z2. Exposure of the pictures is almost always fine. In some pictures, the contrast can look rather high, but the prints give a good strong picture with vibrant colours.
The detail in the shadow and light parts are well preserved and only the light parts can occasionally look a bit bleached out in high contrast situations. Playing about with the exposure compensation may provide a solution.

Fujifilm FinePix Z2 - Video mode
Pictures taken can be looked at on the LCD screen, where the pictures can be rotated for eventual storage and/or printing. Via the blue F button and the select menu, user scan install print options (DPOF). The necessary information appears in the LCD screen: it points out the way itself. A nice extra is the possibility to record spoken commentary. More extra setting options are the cut out setting whereby you can choose between the three most suitable image formats. You can also make videos with this camera. With the necessary plus of Megabytes in the storage card it is theoretically possible to take 30 minutes of video. Picture quality can be improved further with the quality setting for video clips in the menu. Naturally, the picture quality is also adjustable.

Fujifilm FinePix Z2 - Chromatic aberration
The lens also gives good results. There was some distortion with the wide-angle pictures but this disappeared with a slight zoom-in. We come across this sort of distortion regularly and it is nothing out of the ordinary. Where the zoom lens really shines in with suppressing chromatic aberration, both in wide-angle and tele pictures there is only minimal aberration. The accuracy and speed of the zoom lens is excellent. The Fujifilm FinePix Z2 is already quite quick. Turning it on and off takes no time and the camera has an extremely fast shutter lag so that there is no awkward delay when you are taking a photo. Although the Fujifilm Z2 compact camera is not really an action camera, it deals with continuous pictures with above average speed. Surprising for such a compact design camera.

Fujifilm Z2 - Nice design & Good quality
To sum up, the Fujifilm FinePix Z2 digital compact camera can be described as user friendly. This camera has a lot of potential and offers users more than appears at first sight. The command menus are easy to follow and what's important, buttons have been kept down to a strict minimum. The picture quality is of a high standard and will be a joy to use. With the Fujifilm FinePix Z2 camera Fujifilm has proved that design can go hand in hand with quality.
