Casio EXILIM EX-Z60 Camera review | Conclusion
Casio Exilim Z60 digital compact camera
Casio has an interesting line of digital compact cameras in its range. The range consists of the super-compact Card series, the P (Pro) series and the Z series of cameras. The Casio Exilim EX Z60 is an ultra compact digital camera for users in search of an easy to use camera that can be operated in an user friendly way. Naturally, design is also an important element and the Casio Z60 will also attract attention on that score. The Casio Exilim EX Z60 is not exactly an eye-catcher, but it is a stylishly designed little camera.

Casio Z60 - Automatic pre-programmed settings
The Casio Exilim Z60 is not suitable for hobby photographers who want to go out and capture moments digitally. Forget manual settings like aperture and shutter speed as the Casio Exilim EXZ 60 is limited to as many automatic pre-programmed settings as possible. They manage this no problem. The scenes are straightforward and everyone can understand and use them; the result may not please every experienced photographer but they are perfectly acceptable for amateurs. Anyone wanting more from a digital camera should maybe take a look at the Casio Exilim Z850 camera that we reviewed recently or perhaps at a digital reflex camera.

High resolution & Rapid image processing speed
The Casio Exilim Z60 fast operation was a pleasant experience. The standard settings give a good speed base for most subjects, but the serial picture function of 3fps is especially good for most active subjects or pictures taken quickly. The combination of the high resolution and rapid image processing makes Casio one of the top scorers in the world of ultra compact cameras. In particular the feature that allows you to use the internal flash when taking action pictures is really exceptional. This indicates what Casio is capable of and what it could have up its sleeve thanks to the Exilim processor. Very impressive!

Casio Exilim Z60 - White balance & Optical zoom lens
We liked the white balance and the optical zoom lens. The white balance is fine and in general has little or no problems with everyday subjects. The little zoom lens works well and will please most photographers. There is some distortion in the wide angle but no more than average. There is also visible chromatic aberration but this can be overcome. All in all, we were satisfied with the optics and treatment of different light sources.

Casio Exilim EX Z60 - Digital image stabilisation
In the first instance, we were happy with an image stabilisation system that helps sort out movement blur, but I have to mention that the Casio Exilim EX Z60 uses digital as opposed to optical image stabilisation. The disadvantage of the digital version is that the camera gives priority to a high ISO value and quicker shutter speed. This means less chance of movement blur but more chance of noise due to the high ISO. Noise is plainly visible by 400 ISO and higher. With optical stabilisation the movement blur is only eliminated optically. One small advantage of a digital image stabiliser is that increasing the ISO and shutter speed makes it easier to capture subjects moving quickly without movement blur. Optical stabilisers do not prioritise fast shutter speeds.

Casio Exilim EX-Z60 - Good image quality
We have now tried out several Casio digital cameras and we can conclude that Casio is a player to watch out for. The Exilim series is well thought out and fitted with all sorts of innovative solutions. In general, the speed is great and it is typical of Casio that they have succeeded in this. The Casio Exilim Z60 is a handy compact camera with a lot of automatic functionality. It’s not perfect, but its good image quality will be more than enough to satisfy the owners of this camera!
