Samsung Digimax i6 | Digital Camera Review | Storage and Energy
The Samsung Digimax i6 is one of the few digital cameras that come with a bit more memory as it has an internal memory of 45MB. This isn't an enormous advantage but it's a start. It is also still possible to fit the camera with an external memory in the form of a Secure Digital flash memory card. The Samsung i6 supports this standard format card up to 1GB, but in practise a 2GB card from an A-manufacturer like SanDisk could also be used. The Samsung i6 is a 6 Megapixel camera that yields high resolution files of 2816 x 2112 pixels and a file size of approx. 3.5MB. If you are really going to use the camera as a MP3 player you will, as a rule, need quite a lot of extra capacity. On the basis of photo and video clip pictures you would be well advised to look for a 256MB or 512MB SD memory card.

SanDisk Ultra II Plus Secure Digital card
I used the Samsung Digimax i6 with a separate Secure Digital card, the SanDisk Ultra II Plus. This little card has an built-in USB interface which makes it possible to place the card directly from the camera in a free USB interface, for example the laptop which contains your MP3 collection. Just transfer some MP3 numbers to the card, remove the card, place it in the camera and there you go - hours of listening pleasure at your fingertips. The Ultra II SD Plus card is quicker than average card and combines well with the Samsung i6. It doesn't noticeably increase the speed with which you can take photographs, but playing back the pictures and looking in MP3 folder for the next number does seem to go quicker.

Samsung Digimax i6 - Serial picture setting
The Samsung i6 is a compact camera with a multimedia character. Its design is attractive and contemporary and will appeal to gadget collectors or beginning (young) photographers. The camera has a continuous picture setting which gives the user the option of taking one picture at a time or taking a series of pictures one after the other until they let go of the shutter release. The Samsung Digimax i6 is no speed freak; the camera has a picture speed of approx 0.5 fps when the flash is switched off and a speed of approximately 1.2 fps in the serial picture setting. If we compare this to the competition, (up to 3fps) we can safely say that you shouldn't use the Samsung i6 to capture action shots.

Digimax i6 - Samsung SLB-0837 Li-Ion battery
The Samsung Digimax i6 PMP digital camera runs on a Lithium Ion battery. The Samsung SLB-0837 Li-Ion battery has a capacity of 3.7V 860mAh and is charged via the camera. The battery is recharged if the camera is placed on the standard delivered camera station, but it is also possible to recharge the battery without the station via the camera. Using the connection underneath the camera and a small cable you can connect it directly to a wall socket. If you don't want to be dependant on a fixed energy source, you can use the optional Samsung SBP-4442 kit. This is a Lithium battery that first has to be recharged and that has a capacity of at least 4400mAh. This portable battery can be directly connected to the camera via a cable to give you many extra hours of power.

Samsung i6 PMP - Lithium Ion battery
The length of time that a battery lasts varies due to the Samsung i6 PMP camera multimedia character. If it's being used to take photographs and the Lithium Ion battery is fully charged, approx 180 - 200 pictures or around 100 minutes is the average performance. If you only want to use the camera for video clips, you can expect approximately half that time. If listening to your MP3 collection, you will have to recharge the battery after approximately 3.5 hours. With mixed use of all the camera's functions, which is the most probable use of this camera, you can expect an energy capacity of approximately 2 hours. If you think you will need more energy or are unable to recharge the battery during a long walk or on holiday you will need to buy an extra battery.
