Nikon Coolpix 5400 | Digital Camera Review | Menu - Play
Beside the pages for the Record Menu, Coolpix also features the Playback Menu. This menu exists of 2 pages with 10 different options. The menu is only available when the Turning Wheel at the top is set to Play. The menu has the following options: Delete (to delete all or certain selected images), Folders, (a standard folder of Nikon, but new ones can be made), Slide Show (showing the images one by one with intervals, from the same folder), Protect (a function to prevent deleting images without wanting to), Hide Image (keep certain images from being seen), Print Set (Digital Print Order Format –DPOF-) and Auto Transfer. The last option enables the transfer of images through the Nikon View 6 software. Auto transfer enables to transfer all or certain selected images onto a computer.
The second page shows the 3 options of the menu. The option Move Image enables to move stored images from one folder to the other on the memory card. The option CF Card Format formats the memory card before using the camera. All files will be erased with this command also the hidden and protected images. The formatting of memory cards is necessary to use them without getting problems. Sometimes the memory cards are formatted in external equipment and then used in the digital camera. If then a message appears that the camera does not recognize the memory card this could be the result of using another operating system to format the card than the operating system from the camera. So the best thing to do is: format the memory card inside the camera! Last but not least: Small Pic. Mode, makes a smaller copy of the images in a resolution of 640x480, 320x240 or 160x120 pixels. These images can be send directly to family and friends without having to go through an image editing program first, very useful!
