Photo printer bluetooth controller from TAK Imaging : TAK Imaging, a leading provider of image processors and solutions for the consumer photo printer market, today announced the availability of a wireless Bluetooth image file transfer and printing solution for the company's flagship TAK S1 and TAK S1R printer controllers. The ability to print digital photos quickly and easily is an increasingly important feature for the consumer digital photography market. As Bluetooth becomes ever more prevalent in mobile handsets, printer manufacturers that include Bluetooth connectivity in their printer designs will make it more convenient for consumers to directly print from their camera-enabled cell phones or other devices.

Camera-enabled handsets sold more than 280 million units in 2005, and are predicted by industry analysts to account for more than 50 percent of the market in 2006. By 2008, more than 53 percent of cell phones worldwide (and more than 65 percent in the U.S.) are expected to have wireless Bluetooth connectivity. "We see the ability to print directly from camera phones rapidly becoming important in today's digital marketplace," said Christian Joly, CEO of TAK Imaging. "Wireless printing is the most convenient way for consumers to get images out of their mobile devices and on to paper. Because our Bluetooth stack is pre-certified, printer manufacturers can feel confident that they are getting a high-performance, high-quality solution that will enable them to reduce the time-to-market of their Bluetooth-enabled printers."
Bluetooth photo printer controller - Design
The TAK S1 and TAK S1R are system-on-a-chip (SOC) silicon products which enable state-of-the-art digital consumer photo printing. This new Bluetooth capability, which is offered as a software option to TAK's base software package, enables Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Original Device Manufacturers (ODMs) to shorten their design cycles and production costs. The TAKS1F-SW-BT Bluetooth software solution works over one of the USB ports within the TAK S1 or TAK S1R chips. This gives printer makers the flexibility to design photo printers with Bluetooth built-in, or to sell a Bluetooth USB dongle as an after-market enhancement.
TAK Imaging bluetooth controller - Performance
Bluetooth removes much of the complication in transferring files or printing from a mobile device to a photo printer. Since it is cordless, consumers can avoid having to run Ethernet or USB cables from the printer to their PC or the various mobile devices that they're going to be printing photos from, reducing set up time and home office clutter. Both the TAK S1 and TAK S1R utilize a high-performance ARM926(TM) CPU, which provides enough processing capability to run Bluetooth's wireless protocol stack, while ensuring high-performance photo printing.
