NikonNikon SLR cameras for Open Golf championship : Nikon is pleased to announce its sponsorship of The Open Golf championship 2006 for the 13th year running, making it one of the longest-standing supporters of the event. Now in its 135th year, this year’s Open will be held from July 20th- 23rd at the Royal Liverpool Hoylake course on the picturesque Dee estuary, the second-oldest links course in the country. Since its sponsorship began in 1993, Nikon has supplied cameras, binoculars and digital equipment to the event, as well as supporting The Open’s Media World section of the tournament’s web site. Professional photographers will be using Nikon’s flagship cameras at the event to ensure all the action is ‘At The Heart Of The Image’.

Visitors to The Open web site will be able to vote for their favourite Open image and view images taken by Nikon professional photographers last year’s champion ship. There will also be the opportunity for visitors to have their photographs taken by one of the ‘Red Snapper’ Nikon pros which can be emailed to keep as a memento or to show off golfing skills on the Nikon golf simulator. Money raised will go towards Nikon’s appointed charity, the Shooting Star Foundation.
