Nikon Coolpix S6 review at PhotographyBLOG : DIWA member Mark Goldstein from PhotographyBLOG has reviewed the Nikon Coolpix S6 digital compact camera. The Nikon S6 features the new Pictmotion function which let users create much more than just a slideshow, indeed it enables a radically new form of in-camera entertainment. This allows users to select favourite images and movie files, pick a style, and then select a music file from one of the five pre-installed files in the camera. Pictmotion then automatically analyses these elements to produce highly entertaining shows that are coupled with pace and transition selected to match the chosen music and style. The Nikon Coolpix S6 also features a high-quality 3x Zoom-Nikkor ED lens.

Nikon S6 camera - Operation
According to Mark Goldstein: "The Nikon Coolpix S6 is very well-made overall, although there are a couple of external controls that aren't particularly well designed. The On/Off button is very small and recessed, which may prevent the camera from being accidentally turned on, but also makes it difficult to operate. The Zoom lever is a little too small, making it fiddly to use when you're in a rush to take a photo. Otherwise the Nikon Coolpix S6 is designed very well."
Nikon Coolpix S6 - Image quality
Mark continues: "The Nikon Coolpix S6 dealt well with chromatic aberrations, with limited purple fringing appearing only in high contrast situations and at the edge of the frame. Macro performance is above average, allowing you to focus as close as 4cms away from the subject. The built-in flash worked well indoors, with no red-eye and fairly good overall exposure. The night photograph was a weak point, with the maximum shutter speed of 8 seconds in the Night Landscape scene mode not being that versatile." About PhotographyBLOG
Mark Goldstein started his very active website PhotographyBLOG in January 2003. At first the one and only purpose was to let this site function as one of those popular web logs with Photography as main topic. But as we all know Photography is a pretty big subject to publish about so Mark decided to focus on some hot key points like mentioning all new introductions, reviews, reports from events like PMA and Photokina, sharing some impressive and creative photos and Mark's sole perspective of his feeling about this fascinating world of Digital Imaging. Mark is based in the UK, but his eagle-eye focuses global.
