AppleMajor Dutch carrier confirms iPhone X : With less than a week to go before Apple launches its new products, there is still a lot of confusion about the name of the upcoming iPhone models. Especially the anniversary OLED phone will be an interesting addition to the iPhone line-up. We have heard all kinds of names for this model; iPhone 8, iPhone Pro, iPhone Edition, iPhone X. It seems we might finally got the answer to this ongoing question. This morning, we received a box shot from the new iPhone. It was meant for an advertorial in our Dutch edition for a Dutch telecom provider, delivered to us by a marketing agency, but we thought it might be useful to a bigger audience. The picture shows the new phone design on top of the box and the name on the side…. iPhone X.

Of course the name could very well be edited in Photoshop (just like the providers' company colors are integrated into the image). But then the question remains, why did this telecom provider choose the words ´iPhone X´? They could have left that out, but they want to promote the name iPhone X...

The telecom provider we are talking about is a highly respected carrier and the biggest provider of telecommunications and IT services in the Netherlands. They will certainly sell the new iPhone the minute it becomes available.

iPhone X

iPhone X also seems a logical choice for Apple, as the X stands for 10 in Latin and the phone is a tribute to the iPhone's 10th anniversary.

iPhone Pro or iPhone Edition
Of course Apple could also choose the name iPhone Pro (named after their MacBooks) or iPhone Edition (named after their Watch). Personally, I start to believe Apple wants to show innovation in all possible ways. A completely new name could very well be part of their strategy.

Apple press conference
On September 12, 2017 we will finally find out all details on the new iPhone X. Apple will organize its Special Event for the first-time ever in the Steve Jobs Theater. The theater is part of Apple´s new campus called ´Apple Park´, located in Cupertino, California, U.S. Apple Park is over 70 hectares and the theater is pretty much entirely underground, with a total of 1000 seats.
