SamsungWhat are the differences between the Galaxy S8 and S7 ? Today Samsung has introduced its new 2017 flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are thereby replaced by the Galaxy S8 and S8+. The differences between the two devices are minimal and uncluttered, the S8+ has a larger screen and a higher capacity battery than the S8. Also in terms of size and weight the smartphones differ just a little from each other. But what are the differences between the new Galaxy S8 and the one year old Galaxy S7? Samsung has published a handy infographic which clearly illumines all the differences between the two premium Galaxy smartphones.

A clear difference is the display. By narrowing the bezels the screen size of the two smartphones is increased by 0.7-inch, to 5.8" (S8) and 6.2" (S8 +). The type of display is changed as well, the Super AMOLED display of the Galaxy S7 was already crystal clear, but the new Infinity display of the Galaxy S8 offers even more vivid colors and a larger aspect ratio of 18.5: 9. Completely new on the Galaxy S8 is Bixby assistant, developed by Samsung. The Galaxy S7 features the Google voice assistant, which is also applied on the LG G6. The new voice assistant is more comprehensive and provides a whole new intelligent interface to establish communication between devices and services. In addition, the Galaxy S8 is not only equipped with a fingerprint scanner, but also offers an iris scanner and face recognition, the user can choose which method is preferred.

Also renewed is the front camera. The Galaxy S7 features a 5 megapixel selfie camera with fixed autofocus. The Galaxy S8 is equipped with an 8 megapixel front camera with an autofocus system with face recognition. By estimating the distance between the camera lens and the person, the S8 makes much better and sharper selfie shots. Further, the 12 megapixel rear camera provides additional filter effects, stickers and stamps. Another difference is the type of USB port, the S7 was equipped with a microUSB port, the Galaxy S8 uses the new USB Type-C connector, for faster data transfer. And of course, the new Galaxy S8 runs on the latest Android 7.0 operating system. Furthermore, the internal memory has doubled from 32GB to 64GB. And a completely new S8 accessory is Samsung DeX, this multifunctional wireless charger allows you to project your smartphone on your desktop, for a true desktop experience with your smartphone.
