SamsungNew features of the Samsung Galaxy S8 : Each year we see new trends in smartphones. Last year, the Dual Camera was an important development. In 2017 we see narrow bezels, additional health functions and different forms of face recognition, which is actually an evolution of the fingerprint scanner. Two years ago only premium smartphones were provided with a fingerprint scanner, now most smartphones get equipped with this safety sensor. One of the new features of the Galaxy S8 is face recognition. Previously, it was generally assumed that the new Samsung smartphone would feature an iris scanner, but according to the latest information, it is another form of face recognition. The iris scanner, which was first applied in the Galaxy Note 7, did not offer the desired user experience.

How does Galaxy S8 face recognition work
One of the disadvantages of an iris scanner is the time it takes for the device to read out the iris (eye). The new face recognition technology makes it possible to recognize the user in as little as 0.1 seconds, before the Galaxy S8 will be unlocked. Also, this technology seems to be a lot more accurate, the iris scanner has the additional disadvantage that you have to stand right in front of the smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S8 face recognition provides a much better user experience. In addition, the existing fingerprint scanner will be maintained as well, but it is moved to the back of the unit. Samsung is not the only smartphone manufacturer dedicated to face recognition, it is expected that the iPhone Edition 2017 features an iris scanner too.
