NikonNikon D5300 videos : The light and compact Nikon D5300 takes beautiful photos, but what is the video quality like on this SLR camera? The video quality has improved, compared with the D5200. The D5300 shoots Full HD videos in 1080/60 video quality, with continuous autofocus. The screen is also larger than that of its predecessor. The 3.2-inch screen with 1,037,000 pixels is ideal for shooting video. You can apply various special effects in order to get extra creative with your videos. Further, the Nikon D5300 has an HDMI port in order to show your videos directly on the TV. Additionally, the camera is the first Nikon SLR equipped with built-in WiFi.

With the Nikon D5300, you can easily start a video recording by using the special button on top of the camera. You have to ensure that Liveview is turned on, otherwise the recording will not start. You also have to pay attention where you hold your thumb. If you have a bit bigger fingers, then you will notice that the thumb might accidentally start playing with the focal point. This is the only thing that you have to watch, as the D5300 does not have any manual video settings; the camera automatically adjusts brightness, ISO, etc.

Nikon D5300 video quality
The video quality itself is very good. The Nikon D5300 does not have any trouble focusing, even when the subject is captured in rapid succession. It is too bad that zooming in is clearly audible, which we unfortunately see more often, but when replaying videos, this can be rather bothersome. It is best to use the zoom as little as possible. The videos have good quality audio, thanks to the built-in stereo microphone. Unfortunately, there is no headphone jack available. In summary, the video function is good, but simple - in the sense that you can adjust very little manually.
