NikonNikon Coolpix P330 test photos : As successor to the Coolpix P310, the new Coolpix P330 is equipped with a larger 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor, a faster f/1.8 lens with a larger zoom range (24-120mm), RAW data processing, extensive ISO sensitivity, continuous shooting with a higher frame rate of 10fps, and Full HD video functionality (1080p / 50fps). Also new is the built-in GPS unit. Moreover, the Nikon Coolpix P330 is compatible with the WU-1a Wi-Fi unit for transferring data wirelessly. Other functions such as complete manual control, a Function button, lens-shift vibration reduction, and a 99-point AF system have remained the same. We took the Nikon Coolpix P330 on the road with us to shoot a series of test photos.

The compact and light format of the Nikon Coolpix P330 is a large advantage compared with the robust DSLR camera. A clear disadvantage is that you will have to dive into your menu much more often. The different menu functions are also easy to reach. There is also a function button available, in order to add the setting of your choice. Partially due to the compact character of the Nikon Coolpix P330, it is a fine camera to shoot with! Only it is too bad that there is the possibility of shooting with a grid line display, you cannot select this via the menu. This should be a relatively easy function to add, and guarantees the photographer of a straight horizon. As far as we are concerned, it is a mistake that Nikon did not include this.

Due to the larger image sensor, the Nikon Coolpix P330 performs better in bad lighting circumstances. There is a special Night shooting mode, so that you can also take well-lit photos at night. Additionally, the Nikon Coolpix P330 is equipped with an automatic HDR mode. The general image quality is good to very good. The photos are well lit and have good color representation. The only comment that can be made concerning the image quality is that there is some distortion at the edges, when shooting in the wide-angle mode.
