 2013 CES NEWS - Nikon 1 S1 system camera : At the CES Show in Las Vegas Nikon presents a new system camera to its 1 series. The Nikon 1 S1 is the first model in the new S-Series and is characterized by a stylish, fast and straightforward camera body, delivering great results with less effort. Designed for speed and simplicity, the new Nikon 1 S1 system camera is as convenient and easy-to-use as a digital compact camera. The Nikon 1 S1 is perfect for young families and individuals who want the user-friendliness of compact cameras, but with faster performance, better image quality and the flexibility of interchangeable lenses. The 1 S1 takes beautiful detailed photos and movies, even in low light situations.

Nikon 1 S1 camera
The Nikon 1 S1 system camera boasts a 10.1-megapixel resolution with an ISO light sensitivity of 100 to 6400. Combined with the Expeed 3A image processor the Nikon 1 S1 powers world´s fastest continues shooting at 15fps with autofocus and up to 60fps with fixed-point AF. The advanced hybrid AF system boasts fast phase-detection to get subjects into focus without delay. The sensor instantly switches between the 73 phase-detection focus areas and the 135 contrast-detect focus areas depending on the scene, ensuring superb images and movies in a wide range of environments.
Video recording with the Nikon S1
The Nikon 1 system cameras, including the new Nikon 1 S1, are optimized for shooting high-quality videos. The fast phase-detection AF system stays active in movie mode - to focus quickly and accurately on moving subjects. The Nikon 1 S1 can record Full HD movies at 60 and 30fps. Users can also capture full resolution photos while recording a video. When filming in Advanced Movie Mode users can take full control over shutter speed and aperture via the PSAM controls. You can even achieve dramatic effects in extreme slow motion, with recording speeds of up to 1200fps.
Nikon 1 S1 price & availability
Small, stylish and simple, the Nikon 1 S1 has a minimal design with simplified controls and clear digital menus for intuitive operation. The Nikon 1 S1 will be available in white, black, pink, red, or khaki, with kit lenses to match. The camera will be available from February in two kits. The Nikon 1 S1 kit + 1 Nikkor 11-27.5mm had an estimated retail price of €520. The Nikon 1 S1 kit + 1 Nikkor 11-27.5mm + VR 30-110mm carries an suggested retail price of €690. Availability of colors and optional Nikon 1 accessories may vary from country to country.
