Mercedes A-Class powered by Nokia Mark Peters : September 30th 2012 - 20:48 CET
New Mercedes-Benz A-Class powered by Nokia : Finnish phone manufacturer Nokia announced earlier this week that its Location and Commerce business is supplying global Navteq Maps and content to enable navigation systems in the all-new Mercedes A-Class range. Mercedes A-Class drivers will be able to experience a variety of additional features including visual 3D imagery, traffic data, driver alerts and speed limits. A-Class drivers can easily navigate through unfamiliar cities using visual content such as 3D City Models and 3D Landmarks by taking advantage of features like Extended Lanes, which guide drivers to the correct lane at complex junctions.
Mercedes A-Class navigation system
Mercedes-Benz drivers can choose from three different systems - a premium high-end model, an entry level navigation and a mobile version. All three systems are powered by the Navteq Map data used over 100 million times a day in a wide variety of devices, services and apps around the world to get people to where they need to go. Navteq Map data is the content heart of the Nokia Location Platform. This includes over 24 million in-vehicle navigation systems that span commercial and personal vehicles.
Strong relationship with Mercedes-Benz
"Stretching back to the mid 1990s, our relationship with Mercedes-Benz remains strong as we continue to innovate and develop new content and services to revolutionize the location experience. This is yet another indication of our reputation and leadership in the automotive sector where we offer a core solution to many leading brands," said Bruno Bourguet, Senior Vice President Sales and Business Development, Nokia Location & Commerce.
The new Mercedes A-Class
The Mercedes Benz A-Class is set to arrive in showrooms around Europe in September 2012, but even before this date, the dynamic presence of the new A-Class is already creating quite a stir. In addition to its sporty design, its inner values are also impressive. A broad range of petrol and diesel engines look after every possible wish in terms of power whilst also checking the box for the best efficiency and emissions values. All engines on the new Mercedes A-Class are equipped as standard with the ECO start/stop function. Consumption savings of up to 26% are possible when measured against the comparable predecessor and all that with greatly improved engine output - that's the impressive conclusion to the engine spectrum of the new A-Class from Mercedes-Benz.
