OlympusPhotokina 2012 - Olympus E-PM2 system camera : Olympus Imaging announce a new PEN Mini camera that conforms to the Micro Four Thirds System standard. The new Olympus PEN Mini E-PM2 offers the convenience and ease of use like a compact camera, but the image quality of a SLR camera. The successor to the Olympus PEN Mini E-PM1, the Olympus PEN Mini E-PM2 has been designed for people who want to try an interchangeable lens camera for the first time. The camera's design concept of "ultra-compact, simple, and stylish" will appeal to those who care about style, as well as quality, ease of use, and performance. The new Olympus PEN Mini E-PM2 camera is scheduled for release on the end of October, 2012.

Inheriting the compact size and light weight of the PEN Mini Series, the Olympus PEN Mini E-PM2 also features major improvements in image quality and functionality. Ease of use is enhanced by a newly developed touchscreen panel and stylish grip. The Olympus E-PM2 newly incorporates the Touch AF Shutter function, which lets the user take a picture simply by touching the Live View screen. In combination with the FAST AF system that made the Olympus OM-D the world's fastest autofocusing camera, digital photographers can now capture precisely the image they want at precisely the moment they want it.

With instantaneous focusing and a capacitive touchscreen panel that reacts immediately to the lightest touch, the Olympus PEN Mini E-PM2 camera won't shake at the moment the shutter is released, assuring maximum clarity and stability. Incredibly effective with moving subjects, the Touch AF Shutter of the Olympus E-PM2 will make possible completely new ways of shooting, taking the creative power and excitement of photography to a whole new level. In addition to the Olympus PEN Mini E-PM2 shutter release function, the touchscreen panel also function as a Stripe Screen menu, facilitating easy on-screen mode selection for faster, more convenient operation.

The Art Filters that have been one of the most defining characteristics of Olympus system cameras have also been improved. Offering a total of twelve filter effects, including the new Water Color plus supporting functions like Variations, Art Effects and the new Monochrome effect, the Olympus PEN Mini E-PM2 gives users the opportunity to express their own unique perspective, bringing their vision to life with brilliant, easy-to-use effects.

The Olympus PEN Mini E-PM2 is available from late October with a precision, near-silent M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm 1:3.5-5.6 IIR lens. The Olympus PEN Mini comes in the colors black, silver, white and red and carries a suggested retail price of €600. For just €80, you can enjoy the added protection and flexibility of a super-slim 15mm 1:8.0 Body Cap lens. When your regular lens is detached, the Body Cap lets you shoot spontaneously and provides a built-in barrier against dust.
