Sony CyberShot DSC-HX200V review
The Sony CyberShot HX200V, besides the CyberShot RX100, is currently the most advanced CyberShot camera. The Sony HX200V is the successor to the one year older HX100V. Thanks to the new image sensor, the DSC-HX200V performs much better in low-light circumstances. Night shots and indoor shots both have much less noise than before. This is a new trend that we have actually seen from all camera manufacturers. The Clear Image Zoom and diverse filter effects are also new.

Sony CyberShot HX200V body
The Sony CyberShot HX200V’s body has the design of a beginner SLR camera. It is a solid camera with a good grip, an electronic viewfinder and a tilting display. The clear 3" Fine Trublack LCD screen with a resolution of 921.000 pixels that can be tilted, makes it possible to shoot from any angle, so that you have much more freedom to find a nice composition.

Review Sony CyberShot

Shooting photos with the Sony HX200V
The Sony CyberShot HX200V has an ISO sensitivity range of 100 to 12.800. Up to ISO 6400, the photos are of good quality, and anything above that is practically useless. The camera has a fast auto focus system that is able to focus in 0.13 seconds. At night, the HX200V is logically a bit slower; then the camera needs 0.21 seconds. Thanks to the effective Optical SteadyShot with Active mode, the photos are nice and sharp across the entire zoom range. Next to the 30x optical zoom, there is also a Clear Image Zoom, which means you can zoom up to 60x, without compromising quality.

Sony CyberShot DSC-HX200V image quality
Shooting with the Sony DSC-HX200V camera is a pleasure; the user-friendly menu and the many manual and automatic settings make it possible for anyone to work with this camera. Almost all photos shot with the Sony HX200V were sharp. The camera has an Extra High Sensitivity mode for shooting clear, noiseless photos in low-light circumstances. In the manual mode, a shutter time of 30 seconds can be selected, which makes the camera ideal for night photography. The camera has an accurate color representation, little chromatic aberration and an accurate white balance. The only criticism we have is that it is not possible to save the photos in RAW format.

Additionally, the advanced Sony HX200V camera has all possible photo options: you can take impressive macro shots from 1 cm to beautiful, extensive panorama photos, even in 3D. Next to a large amount of scene programs there are also nine filter effects that can be applied. The effects are directly visible on the Sony HX200V’s LCD screen, so that you can see the result before you even take the photo. The camera also has a Full HD 50p video function, so that you can keep shooting even while recording video.
