MicrosoftMicrosoft Surface tablet : Since Microsoft introduced two new Windows tablets last week, at a specially organized event in Hollywood, people are heavily speculating whether the new Microsoft Surface will defeat the popular Apple iPad. Some are enthusiastic and believe that Microsoft can strike a major hit with their new Surface tablet. Others believe that Microsoft Surface offers too little to beat the iPad. The information to date is very brief, but it is clear that the powerful Windows platform will be fully exploited on the Microsoft Surface tablet.

To start at the beginning, Microsoft introduces two different Surface models, the Microsoft Surface Windows RT and the Microsoft Surface Windows 8 Professional. Both Windows tablets have a 10.6 inch screen. The Microsoft Surface Windows RT model is designed for the consumer market and comes equipped with an ARM processor. A major advantage, this Windows tablet comes standard with Office 15, allowing you to read and edit your documents. Also making presentations or installing E-mail is possible with Office 15. The Microsoft Surface Windows 8 Pro tablet is designed for the business market and has a wide 16:9 aspect ratio. The 3rd generation Intel Core processor contributes to a fast data processing.

Another advantage of the new Microsoft Surface is the optional keyboard. A physical keyboard will do wonders in terms of productivity, typing on a real keyboard works a lot faster. The tablet also has a kickstand, so you can put down the Microsoft Surface. There is also a USB interface integrated into the new Microsoft Surface. Microsoft has clearly the intention to actually replace a PC or laptop with the new Windows Surface tablet.

To get back to the question which tablet is more interesting; the Microsoft Surface or the Apple iPad? The answer to this question is very personal. If you are looking for a tablet to work on and which can replace your laptop, the Windows Surface tablet will be a serious option, not least because of the powerful Windows operating system. Price technically speaking, there is little to say about the new tablet, because Microsoft decided to release the Surface price information at a later date.
