"Today's DSLR consumer is looking for a higher level of control and flexibility in their camera," said Mike Kahn, director of the Alpha camera business group for Sony Electronics. "With the introduction of the new Sony SLT-A57, we're bringing blazing fast response rates, enhanced artistic capabilities and other advanced features to the mainstream DSLR marketplace, offering professional photos and videos at an affordable price."

Professional portraits with the Sony SLT-A57
Even beginners can effortlessly create pro-style portraits with the Sony SLT-A57. In a world first, Sony introduces new Auto Portrait Framing. Using face detection and the compositional ‘rule of thirds’, the Sony A57 identifies your subject’s position, trimming the scene to create tightly-framed, professional looking pictures in vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape) orientation. Pixel Super Resolution Technology by Sony ensures that cropped, zoomed images retain a full pixel count. The Sony SLT-A57 saves the original photo together with the optimally-trimmed image. This allows easy comparison between the two photos, offering photographers inspiration to refine their portrait skills.
