 Canon G1 X test photos : At the beginning of this year Canon introduced the new PowerShot G1 X digital camera for the advanced photographer. This high end compact camera is placed above the popular and advanced G-series digital compact cameras. The Canon PowerShot G1 X incorporates a large 14.3 megapixel CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 5 image processor to deliver the image quality of an SLR camera without having to carry a heavy camera with you. The Canon G1 X camera offers a 28-112mm lens with 4x optical zoom, intelligent optical image stabilizer and full manual control. We have been able to take a short trip with this revolutionary camera and took some Canon PowerShot G1 X test photos.

Although offering many advanced photo features the Canon G1 X is not an interchangeable lens camera. By using a built-in lens instead of a lens mount the size of the Canon PowerShot G1 X is kept very slim. While the 28-112mm lens does give the photographer a wide shooting range. We expect the Canon PowerShot G1 X to attract a wide audience, as the price tag of $800 USD / €750 Euro is cheaper than most SLR cameras while offering all the benefits of a DSLR camera.

The folding display allows the photographer to shoot from virtually any position. The new Canon PowerShot G1 X camera features an optical viewfinder, a pop-up flash, exposure compensation dials and a customizable function button.
