Olympus OM-D test photos : Over a week ago Olympus introduced a new digital camera, and not just any. "The Olympus OM-D marks the beginning of a new era of digital SLR cameras", such were the words of Olympus. The Olympus OM-D is a lightweight and compact camera without a mirror. The highlight of this system camera is, without a doubt, the ingenious electronic viewfinder. In addition, the 16 megapixel Olympus OM-D incorporates a new Live MOS sensor, a TruePic VI-image processor and an incredibly fast auto focus system. During the Olympus OM-D Hot Spot Hunt event in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, we were able to test this remarkable camera a whole day long to shoot sample photos of a wide variety of topics.

Olympus OM-D test in practise
Olympus had four preconceived photo locations spread through Amsterdam. On the 'Museumplein' various free-runner performances were excellently suitable to test the extreme fast auto focus system of the OM-D to the fullest. Also the advanced 5-axis stabilization system was perfectly useful. Beautiful models were waiting for us in the Photo Studio to pose. Perfect conditions to test the wide array of built-in creative filters. Thereafter we took the Olympus OM-D to the roof of the Hilton Hotel, to capture beautiful overview pictures from the Sky Lounge. The skate park was ideal for high speed shooting, the Olympus OM-D shoots 9 frames per second, resulting in clear, stunning test photos.

Olympus OM-D test conclusion
It takes some time getting used to the Olympus OM-D, but it’s an incredible fast camera , full of possibilities for the creative photographer. In addition, the new sensor offers good noise reduction. The solid dust and splash-proof magnesium alloy body fits well in the hand. Moreover, the Olympus OM-D is compatible with all Micro Four Thirds lenses and later this year two more Zuiko lenses will be introduced, a 75mm and a 60mm macro lens.
