Canon Face ID function
With new Face Identification (Face ID), your friends and family will always look their best in your pictures, even if they are in a large group or at the edge of the composition. Simply register up to 12 faces in the PowerShot SX240 HS camera and include their birthdays to enable some of the new age-related scenes added to the Smart Auto function. For example, when taking a picture of a sleeping baby, the Canon PowerShot camera will disengage the flash and audio cues in order to avoid disturbing its sleep and apply specific exposure settings to produce a similar result to the bright “high-key effect” portraits favored by professional photographers.

Similarly, in the case of a child over the age of two playing outdoors, the PowerShot SX240 HS camera will anticipate more movement and engages servo Auto-focus to ensure focus, then shoots a short high-speed burst to increase the chances of capturing a perfect moment. The Face ID function will also tag your photos with the names of your subjects, allowing you to search your image library by name for swifter browsing, both on the camera and on your Personal Computer using the supplied Image Browser EX software from Canon.

Canon iMAGE Gateway community
Owners of the new Canon PowerShot SX240 HS digital camera can also join the newly updated Canon iMAGE Gateway, an online facility for sharing pictures and movies now providing up to 10GB of storage capacity, perfect for many photos in full resolution. An easy user interface allows you to search for pictures, create combined photo and video collections that can receive comments from friends, and to share albums directly via e-mail or social network websites.
