 Pentax WG-2 GPS outdoor digital camera : Pentax Ricoh introduces a new GPS-enabled digital camera for outdoor use. The Pentax Optio WG-2 GPS digital camera is waterproof (up to 12m), dustproof and shock-resistant (up to 1,5m), making it the ideal traveler camera. The back-illuminated CMOS image sensor with 16 megapixels result in even more beautiful pictures with a lower noise ratio, even when the Optio WG-2 GPS is set to higher sensitivities. To further enhance the picture quality, the Pentax camera has been equipped with a new imaging engine. The Pentax Optio WG-2 GPS also offers high-resolution Full HD video recording (1920 x 1080 pixels). Coupled with a wide, high-resolution LCD monitor the camera assures you can effortless frame and review your images even in direct sunlight.

Pentax Optio WG-2 GPS
The Optio WG-2 GPS performs superbly in high-sensitivity shooting, for example when shooting at night or at poorly illuminated events, delivering much clearer, sharper images with minimized noise than the previous model, the Pentax Optio WG-1 GPS. With the combination of a top sensitivity of ISO 6400, 16 effective megapixels, and the new imaging engine, the Pentax WG-2 GPS delivers super-high-resolution images over and over again.
Pentax Optio WG-2 GPS module
The Pentax Optio WG-2 GPS incorporates a newly developed GPS module that offers some crucial improvements over its predecessor. Not only does it shorten the time lag before starting the GPS operation, but it also greatly extends the operating life of the log function, to create log data and stores it as a KML-format file. The Pentax WG-2 GPS allows the user to record position data when shooting still photos and take advantage of various GPS-compatible applications and services provided by the included software and such Web sites as Google Maps.
LED Macro Lights on the Pentax WG-2 GPS
By positioning six LED Macro Lights around the circumference of the lens barrel for macro shooting, the Optio WG-2-GPS provides brighter and uniform illumination on the subject when the Digital Microscope mode is selected. Thanks to the Macro Lights, the user can clearly see a magnified view of the microscopic world often unnoticeable with the naked eye on the camera’s LCD monitor and effortlessly capture it in eye-catching images.
Pentax Optio WG-2 GPS price & availability
The Pentax Optio WG2 GPS will be available from mid-March 2012. If you are interested in this outdoor camera, but you are not likely to use the GPS function, you may want to take a look at its smaller brother, the Pentax Optio WG-2.
