 New Pentax WG-2 digital camera : Pentax Ricoh launches the waterproof Pentax Optio WG-2 digital compact camera. By further enhancing the water tightness of the camera body, Pentax has upgraded the Pentax WG-2’s underwater performance to 12 meters, for up to 2 hours of continuous operation. The new Pentax camera is also designed to be highly shock-resistant (up to 1.5 meters), dustproof, cold-resistant (down to -10°C), and crushproof (up to 100 kg). This makes the Pentax Optio WG-2 the ideal partners in harsh, demanding shooting conditions. In addition to its outdoor-friendly waterproof, dustproof and shock-resistant construction, the fully packed Pentax Optio WG-2 offers stunning image quality in high-sensitivity shooting and Full HD video recording capability.

Pentax Optio WG-2
The 16 megapixels Pentax Optio WG-2 features a versatile 5X optical zoom lens covering focal lengths equivalent to 28mm wide angle to 140mm telephoto in the 35mm format. Thanks to this high-performance zoom lens, the camera can capture beautiful, lively pictures in a large array of subjects and scenes. In addition, the Pentax WG-2 camera has been equipped with a high resolution 3" LCD display with wide 16:9 proportions and 460,000 dots.
Record videos with the Pentax WG-2
The Optio WG-2 records Full HD videos employing the H.264 recording format, allowing the photographer to capture high-quality video clips at 1920x1080 pixels at a frame rate of 30fps. The Pentax camera also features a high-speed camera function for slow-motion playback of captured video clips and an interval movie function to simplify advanced movie-recording techniques. A micro-HDMI terminal (Type D) is also provided on the Pentax WG-2 camera body allowing output of Full HD video clips and sound to external devices.
Pentax Optio WG-2 price & availability
The Pentax Optio WG2 will be available from mid-March 2012. The same camera also comes with a built-in GPS module, and will be sold under the name Pentax Optio WG2 GPS.
