 New Canon SX240 HS digital camera : Soon, very soon…. the new Canon PowerShot SX240 HS digital compact camera will be officially launched by Canon, as a successor to the one year old PowerShot SX230 HS. The Canon PowerShot SX-series is known for its powerful ultra zoom lens. Every Canon SX-camera is equipped with at least a 10x optical zoom lens. The new Canon PowerShot SX240 HS will most likely offer an incredible 20x optical zoom. Obviously, this 28mm wide angle lens will be supported by a powerful and efficient optical image stabilization, to compensate for camera shake, something indispensable for such a zoom range.

Canon PowerShot SX240 HS
The Canon PowerShot SX230 HS incorporates a 12.1 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor and a Digic 4 image processor. The latest digital compact cameras from Canon are all equipped with the new Digic 5 processor, the Canon PowerShot SX240 HS will most likely integrate the same processor. The Canon SX240 HS will probably also offer a higher resolution sensor, at least 14.1 megapixels. Combined with the HS System of Canon, the PowerShot SX240 HS will produce pictures with less noise and an increased dynamic range.

The Canon SX230 HS was the first digital camera from Canon with an integrated GPS function. The built-in GPS gives users information about the location and time at which photos are taken. With the GPS logger users can log their route and watch it back via Google Maps afterwards. The compact Canon PowerShot SX240HS will most likely feature the same GPS function. Besides, the Canon SX240 HS will incorporate Full HD video and a 3" LCD screen, just like its predecessor.

In addition to the compact and advanced Canon PowerShot SX240 HS ultra zoom camera, Canon will launch a number of other digital cameras in preparation of the CP+ Camera & Photo Imaging Show in Japan later this week.
