Canon EOS 5D Mark III

 Canon EOS 5D Mark III : For several months already we hear strong rumors about a new high-end Canon digital SLR camera. The new Canon reflex camera, meant for the high-end market, will succeed the already 3 year old Canon EOS 5D Mark II and is expected to carry the suitable name; Canon EOS 5D Mark III. Such a professional camera will be extensively tested before being put on the market, and that happens not just in the lab. Stephen Oachs run unexpectedly into a new Canon SLR camera during a safari trip. The Canon EOS 5D Mark III was used in combination with the 200-400mm and 200-400mm lenses. Luckily for us, mr. Oachs has made several pictures of this new beauty.

We can speculate whether these pictures are real or not for a long time, but we believe they are. The brand 'Canon' has been taped off (just below the display), something we usually only see in samples. The camera is clearly not consistent with pre-existing Canon cameras and the author, mr. Oachs has also showed a RAW file, which clearly rule out the photos have been editied in photoshop or otherwise.

The new Canon EOS 5D Mark III has clear similarities with the professional Canon EOS 5D Mark II as well as the semi-professional Canon EOS 7D. In particular the top reminiscent of the EOS 5D, while the controls are more like the EOS 7D. If you look closely at the photos of the Canon EOS 5D Mark III, there are also some notable differences, just look at the joystick which is attached on the battery grip. A nice addition! Also the display seems to be 16:9 format and we see some new control buttons.

There is also much talk about the technical specifications of the new Canon EOS 5D Mark III. According to the speculations, it would involve a full frame camera with at least more than 20 megapixels (probably 22 megapixels). Also the famous Canon Digic 5+ processor will be integrated. The autofocus will not likely be improved, but we have heard about a GPS function.

It is expected that we hear more about the new Canon EOS 5D Mark III SLR camera within a month. The CP+ Camera & Photo Imaging Show is on its way. Early February this show will take place in Japan. Previously we have already reported on the Nikon D800, which we also expect to attend the show. The EOS 5D Mark 3 will most probably be the answer from Canon to the growing competition in the professional photo industry.
