 CES 2012 - Nikon D4 professional digital SLR camera : The Nikon D4 features an 16.2 Megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor that provides impressive professional image quality, brilliant dynamic range and vivid colours in almost any lighting condition. Due to the optimal balance of resolution and sensor size, professional digital photographers will realize amazing sharp, clean and well saturated photographs throughout the complete ISO range. Like the Nikon D3 and Nikon D3s, the new Nikon D4 Digital SLR camera retains Nikon’s world-wide status as the sovereign of low-light photography, with a ISO range from ISO 100 to 12800 and expandable from 50 (Lo-1) to an incredible 204,800 (Hi-4).

From a candlelit first dance to nocturnal wildlife, the large 7.3µ pixel size absorbs the maximum amount of light to excel in any situation. Additionally, the image sensor construction features a gapless micro-lens structure and anti-reflective coating which contributes to professional pictures that retain natural depth and tones with smooth colour gradation and perfect contrasts. Another factor contributing to the Nikon D4 performance and professional image quality is Nikon’s new Expeed 3 image processing engine that helps professionals to capture images in high-resolution with full colour and dynamic range in both photos and video. From image processing to image transfer, the new engine processing engine is capable of processing massive amounts of data, exacting optimal colour, perfect tonality and minimized noise throughout the complete frame.

There are also a range of shooting options available to help capture the highest professional image quality. In addition to standard NEF (RAW) files, the new Nikon D4 DSLR camera is capable of shooting smaller compressed RAW files to ease storage and speed up your workflow. Nikon D4 users are also able to capture even more dynamic range with the in-camera High Dynamic Range function that merges consecutive exposures. For deep contrast and further tonality, Active D-Lighting can be activated during shooting for balanced exposures even in backlit scenes. Additionally, the Nikon D4 camera features a dedicated button for quick access to Nikon’s Picture Controls, allowing users to quickly select one of presets.
Nikon D4 price & availability
The new Nikon D4 professional digital SLR camera will be available end February 2012 and carries a suggested retail price of $6000 USD. (Nikon D4 prices can differ between countries, in Europe the Nikon D4 will cost around €5930 Euro).
