CES 2012 - Canon G1X video features : The Canon PowerShot G1X camera supports 1080p Full HD video recording at 24fps. Taking advantage of the GX1 large CMOS image sensor, users can experience high quality HD video, even in low light environments. Additionally, the powerful 4x optical zoom lens can be used whilst filming, offering versatility, while stereo sound is also been recorded. To help ensure maximum image quality and Full HD movie clarity, the Canon lens features a 4-stop optical image stabilizer, allowing digital photographers to use shutter speeds up to four stops slower than would be possible without image stabilization.

The lens includes an 3-stop Neutral Density Filter, permitting the use of wider apertures in bright light to achieve a shallower depth of field, or to use slower shutter speeds to intentionally blur motion. The optical Image Stabilizer is supported by Intelligent IS which analyses the focal length, focal distance and type of camera movement and applies the best stabilizer mode. For example, when a panning motion is detected, Panning IS will activate and stabilizes in only one direction for more artistic capture of movement across the frame. Hybrid IS technology is also included to capture macro subjects without the blur associated with shift camera shake.

Dedicated video record button
It's has never been easier to record Full HD videos with a Canon PowerShot camera. The Canon PowerShot G1X has a dedicated movie button that lets you start and stop recording instantly. There is no need to search menus or operate switches or dials to switch from photo to video mode. The Canon PowerShot G1X digital camera is always ready for action. The Canon camera also incorporates an electronic wind filter, which suppresses wind noise that can muffle or distort the sound. And unlike less sophisticated cameras, the Canon G1X lets you use the full zoom range when recording a HD movie.

Canon PowerShot G1X video playback via HDMI with CEC
With the new Canon G1X camera you can also record HD video in the Apple iFrame format, which is a Personal Computer friendly movie standard that speeds up importing and editing of videos. It's easy and fun to share your recorded videos on an HD-TV via the cameras' HDMI connector, and because the Canon PowerShot G1X supports HDMI-CEC technology (Consumer Electronic Control), you'll be able to control the playback photos and videos on any CEC-enabled HD-TV using the TV's remote control. |
