NikonCES 2012 Show - Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm portrait lens : Nikon introduces the Nikkor AF-S 85mm f/1.8G FX lens to its popular line of Nikon camera lenses. The new Nikon 85mm lens is a fast, fixed focal-length lens with medium telephoto capabilities and a large maximum aperture of f/1.8 that is capable of performing a wide variety of photography tasks with impressive sharpness and detail. The construction of the 85mm f/1.8 lens consists of nine optical elements, with a seven-blade diaphragm which contributes to a substantially more circular bokeh for a natural appearance to out-of-focus background elements.

In addition, instances of lens flare and chromatic aberration are suppressed using Nikon’s exclusive Super Integrated Coatings, which helps to ensure vividly accurate colour balance. The new AF-S Nikkor 85mm fixed focal lens is ideal for travel, general digital photography, low-light situations, landscape photography, portraiture and capturing videos with extreme depth of field. The Nikon AF-S 85mm lens is designed to capture pictures utilizing beautiful image blur achieved due to its large maximum aperture. Furthermore, the new Nikon AF-S 85mm lens is lightweight, easy to carry, and provides an equivalent focal length of 127mm when attached to a Nikon DX-format Digital SLR camera body.

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm lens features
The new Nikkor 85mm lens is equipped with a carefully engineered optical system, optimized to deliver superior photo quality. The integration of an ultra-compact Silent Wave Motor ensures fast, quiet Auto-Focus operation, which is essential when recording video clips. The Nikon AF-S 85mm portrait lens also features two focus modes, M/A (manual-priority autofocus) and M (manual) to further enhance versatility. Additionally, Internal Focus (IF) design prevents the front element from rotating, allowing for the use of lens filters and other attachments.
