Olympus PEN videos : The 12.3 megapixel Olympus PEN E-P3 is the top model within the Olympus system camera series. The camera has improved on several points from its predecessor, the E-P2. The Olympus PEN E-P3 is much faster, thanks to the new TruePic VI processor and a superfast Fast AF autofocus system. The video quality has also improved, as the Olympus PEN E-P2 can record HD videos and the PEN E-P3 can record Full HD videos, which can then be easily viewed on the renewed 16:9 OLED display with touch technology. There is a separate video record button available and surround sound can be recorded for the video.

The Olympus PEN videos can be recorded in AVCHD as well as in JPEG quality. The AVCHD format, which is supported up to 1080i Full HD, has the advantage that you can easily view it on a TV, and it takes up less storage space. The JPEG format, which is supported up to 720p HD, is recommended when you want to edit your video files.

In practice, it does take some getting used to in order to shoot videos with the Olympus PEN E-P3. Especially focusing is not always so easy. There is a tracking function, however, sometimes the camera loses the subject and then you have to start the focusing again. If you keep the camera steady, for example, on a tripod, and if you do not zoom in, then the quality is much better.
