SamsungSamsung MultiView review : Two months ago Samsung introduced a new DualView, or rather a MultiView camera. The Samsung MV800 MultiView is a stylish digital compact camera with a polished metallic finish. The Samsung MultiView camera is equipped with a 16.1 megapixel CCD sensor, a 26-130mm Schneider Kreuznach lens with 5x optical zoom and a 3" Smart Touch display. Next to taking photos, the Samsung MultiView camera can shoot HD video with (zoom)noise reduction. These are fun specifications, but that is not what this camera is about, because the Samsung MV800 MultiView has another unique characteristic, namely a fully foldable display that allows you to take creative photos from every angle.

The Samsung MultiView MV800, just like the Samsung DualView cameras, is ideal for taking self-portraits. Only the DualView cameras have a separate display on the front for taking those self-portraits, while the Samsung MultiView has a full folding display. The 3" touch display can be folded up and down completely, so that you can shoot photos of yourself or of others from every angle. The camera is equipped with a second shutter release button for shooting self-portraits. Additionally, the Samsung MultiView camera offers a Smart Touch 3.0 start screen. This means that the menu resembles a smartphone menu, where every menu option can be placed on the start screen where desired.

Samsung MultiView image quality
Due to the folding display, the Samsung MultiView camera is thicker than the average camera. At first, this takes some getting used to in terms of handling, but the camera quickly feel comfortable. In general, the Samsung MultiView MV800 digital compact camera produces pretty sharp photos. There are diverse focus possibilities: Multi, Spot, Center Weighted and Face Detection AE. In most situations, Multi focus is sufficient. The colors look natural and the image quality is good, especially in the lower ISO values. In the higher ISO values, (max ISO 3200) there is a lot of noise, but for the Samsung MV800 MultiView’s target audience, the image quality is sufficient.

Review Samsung MultiView MV800
The foldable touch display not only indicates that this digital compact camera ideal is for creative, stylish enthusiasts, there are also many creative functions integrated into the Samsung MultiView, like the Funny Face function, which mimics the funhouse mirror, or Pose-Guide which shows the subject how to stand for the perfect shot. With Magic Frame, you can do many tricks with your photos and funny and artistic filters can be added with the Smart Filter function. The Samsung MultiView MV800 is equipped with an Intelligent Portrait function and a 3D photo function.

That is not all, the Samsung MultiView camera also has a Picture-in-Picture function, with which you can combine two photos. For example, think of a photo of a sports player that scores, and in the corner a smaller photo of the cheering crowd. The Samsung MultiView digital camera is also equipped with a panorama function. You only have to hold down the shutter release button and move the camera sideways, and the result is a nice clear panorama photo. The Samsung MultiView offers enough creative possibilities!

Samsung MultiView review conclusion
The Samsung MV800 MultiView digital compact camera has no specifications that jump out at you, but the 3" foldable touch display still makes it a unique camera. The Samsung MultiView camera does look stylish and has a unique smartphone look-a-like menu in which the menu options can be arranged according to personal interests in the Smart Touch start screen. Further, the Samsung MultiView is full of creative functions that make it fun to shoot photos of yourself or others. All these unique and creative functions do have a price tag, as the Samsung MultiView MV800 camera is available for about $280 USD / £200 GBP.
