 Samsung ST96 review : Recently, Samsung’s digital compact camera assortment was extended at the IFA Show in Berlin. One of the new digital cameras is the Samsung ST96, which belongs to the Samsung Style series. The 14.5 megapixel Samsung ST96 is a simple, stylish compact camera that has diverse creative functions. The Samsung ST96 digital camera is equipped with a BSI (Back Side Illuminated) CMOS sensor, a 5x optical zoom lens (26-130mm) with double image stabilization, Full HD video recording possibility, a Dual Capture mode, advanced face detection and a panorama and 3D photo function. We took a closer look at the Samsung ST96.

The Samsung Style camera series, which includes the Samsung ST96, is known for its compact dimensions, its stylish character and a colorful selection. The latter is not exactly true for the Samsung ST96, as this camera is only available in black, but the camera is compact and stylish. Additionally, the Samsung ST96 is equipped with the newest multimedia technologies; for example, think of the Dual Capture function, which allows you to shoot photos while shooting Full HD video. After that, you can share the images with your friends.

The BSI CMOS-sensor is twice as sensitive as conventional CMOS-sensors, which allows you to shoot fun photos with the Samsung ST96, even in low light. A lot of noise can still be detected in the higher ISO values, and the Samsung ST96 sometimes has trouble focussing. You must keep in mind that the Samsung ST96 is a simple compact camera that costs about £180. For this price, the camera takes fun snapshots, the colors look natural and the photos are well lit. Photos and videos can easily be reviewed on the Samsung ST96’s 2.7" color display.
Samsung ST96 review - Photo & Video
One of the Samsung ST96’s unique functions is taking high-speed shots, at a mere 10 frames per second. With this function, you can capture action shots at an incredible speed. Videos can also be shot in high speed, and then played back in slow motion, in order to see every detail. The Samsung ST96 is also equipped with the Creative Movie Maker in order to make original slide shows by combining photos and video. The slide show can be further personalized by adding a soundtrack in the background.

The Samsung ST96 is a simple compact camera with a 14.5 megapixel image sensor. The Samsung ST96 camera is easy to operate and takes nice snapshots. Extra functions such as the Dual Capture mode and the Creative Movie Maker make the Samsung ST96 a stylish camera with creative functions. All in all, the Samsung ST96 offers a good price / quality ratio at a price of £180.
