It’s also among the first Canon cameras to include the new Intelligent IS system, making it easy to capture richly-detailed and shake-free stills, or steady Full HD (1080p) video clips. A large, premium-quality 7.5cm (3.0”) PureColor LCD II G display is perfect for image framing and playback, with a 460k-dot resolution that offers fine detail, high contrast and excellent colour reproduction. Fusing leading design with outstanding performance, the Canon IXUS 230 HS digital camera is powered by Canon’s HS System - a unique, optimised combination of a 12.1 Megapixel back-illuminated CMOS image sensor and powerful DIGIC 4 image processing. Providing superior photo clarity, colour and detail, the HS System from Canon empowers users to shoot low-noise photos in low light conditions without the need for a tripod, or to capture the true ambience of a scene by shooting without using the flash. Additionally, the Canon IXUS 230HS camera will also be compatible with the Canon HF-DC2 external flash unit that was also introduced today.

Canon IXUS 230 HS Video in Full HD
The new Canon IXUS 230 HS digital compact camera also captures stunning Full HD video at 24 frames per second with perfect stereo sound. The Canon 230 HS features a dedicated 'Movie Record Button' which makes it easy to record instantly, ensuring no special moment is ever missed. The 8x optical zoom lens can be used during video capture, and Intelligent IS includes Dynamic IS mode to counteract camera shake when recording whilst moving. An HDMI-CEC port makes it easy to share video clips, allowing users to play photos on HDMI-compatible HD-TVs and control playback using the TV remote.

The Canon IXUS 230 HS is available from October 2011 and carries a retail price of £229 / €269 RRP including VAT. ($259.99 USD in the United States). The new Canon IXUS 230 HS camera will be available in the colours; Silver, Blue, Green, Purple and Pink.
