SamsungSamsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 android tablet goes American Airlines : Samsung Mobile announced that American Airlines will offer the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android tablets for premium class flight entertainment. “Earlier this month Samsung made history by launching the world’s thinnest Android tablet currently available and now Samsung unveils another first with American Airlines’ selection of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1,” said Dale Sohn, President of Samsung Mobile. American Airlines plans to deploy 6.000 of the new Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablets onboard select American Airlines flights this year.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablets will replace American Airlines current personal entertainment device in American’s premium cabins on transcontinental flights between New York’s JFK and Los Angeles, JFK and San Francisco, and Miami and Los Angeles served with Boeing 767-200 and Boeing 767-300 aircraft; international flights to and from Europe and South America served with Boeing 767-300 aircraft; and transcontinental flights departing from Boston to Los Angeles served with Boeing 757 aircraft.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 android tablet combines the Google android platform, ultra-slim, lightweight design, a brilliant 10-inch touchscreen and bunch of android applications enhancing the in-flight entertainment experience for travellers onboard American Airlines. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a WiFi-enabled Android tablet that measures at just 8.6mm slim, making it the thinnest large screen tablet currently available in the world.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet is powered by the Android 3.1 Honeycomb platform, offering faster and smoother transitions between different apps, more intuitive navigation to and from home screens and broader support of USB accessories, external keyboards, joysticks and gamepads. Samsung will customize the Samsung Galaxy Tab Android Tablets for American’s in-flight entertainment needs, including the addition of expanded memory.
