Not so long ago on, Canon and Nikon were king in the entry-level DSLR market, but competition has awakened. Competition is to be expected, but with the new 1100D Canon seems to believe they will have everything under control. The Canon 1100D builds on the success of it former generations. The result is a powerful DSLR combination with a low price tag. The first test photos are made with a Canon 1100D BETA test camera. The new Canon 1100D camera is equipped with a 12 Megapixel CMOS sensor and a powerful DIGIC 4 processor. New for an entry-level DSLR camera is the 63-area iFCL metering system first seen in the Canon EOS 7D. The first impression of the Canon 1100D is that of a SLR camera with that ‘plastic’ feeling. Not necessarily bad in quality, on the contrary, but any ‘professional’ feeling is lost completely. What is left is a very easy-to-use SLR camera with a comfortable grip. The Canon 1100D is light weighted and not to big to prevent to carry it with you most of the day.
