Canon SLR camera concept : At the Canon Expo 2010 in Paris we saw some interesting concept products. Among them a SLR-type camera that reminded me of one of the early Canon PowerShot megazoom cameras, the Canon PowerShot Pro 90 IS. The Canon Pro 90 IS was announced back in the beginning of 2001, almost ten years ago! The new multi-user SLR concept camera combines ultra-high definition picture quality with high magnification. This Canon SLR concept was also showcased at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai where among others Canon showed their vision of the future. Canon’s SLR concept camera is a camera of the future and visualizes the experiences by the world’s largest camera company.

Multi-user SLR camera concept
Unfortunately the Canon SLR concept camera was only showcased behind the glass, but apparently seemed to be demonstrated live at the Shanghai’s World Expo 2010. During that demonstrating Canon apparently claimed that this camera features a technology that enables everything and every frame to be in focus at all times from every distance, close-up and far. Besides the SLR concept seems also to be the perfect merge between still and video.
SLR camera concept captures still and videos
Of course no specifications are available but for now we can say that this SLR concept captures still and video beyond anything we use now or even may know! The camera features a single zoom lens with a touch-swipe interface to control the zoom ratio. Zooming isn’t necessarily needed before capturing the shot, you may also do this at home and zoom in at a magnification ratio we not know.

It looks like several features are actual working and were also demonstrated at the zone where the ultra-high resolution panorama camera was. The Canon SLR concept is able to capture and grab a single shot out of the ultra-high resolution image and present it in a new single image, still or video. All these features need a massive and high-speed storage, and we can even imagine that SDXC would even be not enough as to the speed.

If you look very close at all development in the imaging industry and listen careful to the engineers it will not surprise you that video is getting far more important than ever before. Ultra high definition video capturing and devices that are developed for video first will become the major device for the near future. Today we see the merging of still and video from several manufacturers, at the Canon Expo 2010 we were shown the future of the outcome of a perfect merge, impressive to say the least! |
