Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 photo gallery : Shortly after attending the Panasonic press event in Stockholm, Sweden, I had the opportunity to shoot with a pre-production model of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 is quite similar to its predecessor, the Panasonic LX3. The most important differences are the fully redesigned lens, the CCD and the image processing engine. The lens is a newly developed f/2.0 wide angle 24mm Leica DC Vario Summicron lens and its optical zoom range is extended to 3.8x (90mm in 35mm format). For the movie recording, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 is newly compatible with long time high quality HD movie recording in AVCHD Lite in addition to the conventional motion JPEG format.

Review Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 is a premium compact camera that features high picture quality and creative descriptiveness. Another important difference is found in the design of the CCD image sensor. The 10.1 Megapixel CCD has been redesigned and offers an expansion of the dynamic range by increasing the sensitivity by approximately 31% and the saturation by approx. 38%. Also the Multi Aspect mode allows the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 to take an image in all three aspect ratios simultaneously for photographer to choose the one that best takes the advantage of the scene after shooting.

Further upgrades can be found in a newly developed Venus Engine FHD offering higher-speed and higher-performance. The triple CPUs in this imaging engine speed up processing while achieving an important noise reduction performance. Another redesigned part of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 camera is the high resolution LCD display. It now adopts High CRI (Color Rendering Index) backlight LED that increases the color reproduction offering remarkable visibility both in shooting and playing back images in any conditions.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 review
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 test photos were taken in Stockholm, Sweden with a pre-production digital camera which means that this Panasonic camera may not be equal to the model that the consumer can expect to purchase. Soon, our DIWA camera test lab will test the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 digital camera under laboratory circumstances from a technical viewpoint.
